Read: Psalm 91:1-5

Christian Devotions Memory Verse

“Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence” (Psalm 91:3 KJV)

secret place of God depicted by landscapeSome rich men do have underground apartment as a secret place in their home. The seat of government of many countries also have secret places – some in form of underground bunkers. These are secret places of escape whenever troubles or unforeseen danger comes up. Such places are usually very secure as a hiding place from the enemy. However, a stronger power or enemy can besiege a secret place, destroy it, capture or even kill those hiding in it. For example, Laurent Gbagbo (erstwhile president of Ivory Coast) was captured in a bunker in his home when he attempted to cling on to power after losing election.  A stronger force led by French army came against him, killed those guarding him and arrested him. That is the limit to the secret place of man.

Now let us talk about the Most High and His secret place. Who is the Most High? The Lord (Jehovah) is the Most High (Psalm 83:18). Why is the Lord called the Most High? It is because he is higher than all other gods (Ephesians 1:20-22). The Lord (Most High) is the creator of heaven and earth (Psalm 24:1, Genesis 14:22) – He created them and so they belong to Him. Another thing you need to know about the Most High is that he is a King (Psalm 47:2): A King that is strong and mighty; a king that is mighty in battle (Psalm 24:8); a King that cannot be dethroned; He is a king that lives forever (Psalm 92:8).

With the above description of the Most High God, you can imagine how His secret place will be. That is why Paul wrote in his letter to the Romans “if God be for us who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31). The secret place of the Most High God is the most secure place we can ever hide our head. The battle in this world may be raging but God has given us assurance of deliverance and protection if we come to hide in his secret place. These are some of the benefits of hiding in the secret place of God:

Deliverance from the snare of the fowler (Psalm 91:3): The fowlers are the enemies hunting you which you know not about. They set their trap all around waiting for you to be entrapped, but the Most High has promised and I know that he will never fail. The psalmist used the word ‘SURELY’. It means without doubt God will deliver you from the snare of the enemy. I pray that God will deliver you as you call on Him in prayer in Jesus name.

Deliverance from the noisome pestilence (Psalm 91:3): Noisome pestilence could be any destructive plague or diseases – it could be cancer, diabetes, Asthma etc. God is a healer (1Peter 2:24). The Most High God has promised to deliver you. Call on Him and remind Him of his promises. The Most High will send his word to your life and you will not die in that sickness in the name of Jesus.

Thank you for reading,  but please note; if you are not yet born again (I mean you have not received Jesus as your Lord and Saviour), it means you are not under the secret place of the Most High God. But you can do so right way and become a child of God. Please bow down your head and say this prayer of salvation.
