Christian Devotions Memory Verse

“That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory” (1Thess. 2:12 KJV)

Beloved how are you walking with the Lord? God, our heavenly father, expects us to be perfect in our walk with Him (Genesis 17:1, 6:9). Many of us proclaim to know him but our works and the way we live our lives show a different picture. We live life like unbelievers; our humility and love end in the church. Holiness is just a topic of the pulpit and has become practically impracticable. Do you see yourself guilty of this, or do you see yourself blameless? Whichever way, the scripture is saying to us to walk wordy of our God. In other word, we are being asked to walk before Him and become perfect.

In the light of this, walking before God perfectly requires among all things a re-examination of our attitude of love. Our God is Love and He wants us to love Him the way He loves us. God also wants us to always show love to our fellow brethren and others in all ramifications. Without love, we cannot achieve perfection (1 Corinthians 13).

The question now is; how do we show true love? We can show true love to our God when we learn to do his work. When we care for what he cares, He will be delighted in us. For example God wants every soul to be saved, so if we have neighbours around us who are not yet saved, it becomes our responsibility to share the gospel of God with them. When we do this we are actually saying to God that we care for both his work and also love our neighbours (John 21:16).

Another way to show love to those around us is to go extra mile for them when they are in need. We should learn not to close our eyes to the need of others. Even though they don’t know the God we serve, our act of love can bring them to Christ. I know of a man (now a Pastor) that was saved because of somebody’s persistent love for him when he was in abject poverty without any hope. The Christian Brother comes to this fellow always to speak to him about Christ and meet his need financially. Today, the unbeliever of yesterday is not just a Christian but a Minister in the vineyard of the Lord.  We all can do the same; we can be a blessing to those in need with our little gift and God will bless us in return. The scripture says he that gives to the poor shall not lack (Proverbs 28:27).

Today’s Christian devotion tells us to walk worthy of God in love. It my prayer that God will bless his word richly in our heart and give us the grace to do that which is pleasing unto Him.
